Wat er gebeurt als studenten aan de slag gaan met BORING

At BORING, we believe it's important not only to make beautiful things for customers, but also to give back to the next generation of creators. We're a web design and development agency from Amsterdam that works every day to build digital experiences that work. And that's why we love helping students develop. They are the future of our profession.

Wat er gebeurt als studenten aan de slag gaan met BORING

For the E-Business & Online Commerce intro course at VU Amsterdam, we were asked to come up with three cases that students got to work with. The assignment: invent, build and present a concept that responds to real challenges in the digital world.

We came up with three themes that suit us well:

  • BORING Hard Seltzer: Students were allowed to come up with a new drink and brand concept for us and work out how they would market it.
  • Hospitality: Developing a tool (vibe coding with Loveable) that allows small restaurants and hotels to easily build a new website themselves.
  • Festival: Consider how festivals can still sell out in an increasingly challenging market.

Last Friday, we attended the final presentations at the VU. It was inspiring to see how the students had developed their ideas and what creative directions they were taking. There were surprisingly fun concepts, from brand stories to smart digital solutions that we hadn't come up with ourselves.

What was particularly striking about some of them was the energy with which they had set to work. No fixed frameworks or restrictive thoughts, but a fresh perspective and the courage to try something new. That's exactly what the creative industry needs.

For us, it is always special to see how curiosity turns into real creativity among young people. And to play a small role in that is something that gives us a lot of energy. It was a great collaboration and hopefully not the last time we build the future with students.
